Lions RB David Montgomery returns after leg injury vs. Vikings

David Montgomery has a knee injury for the Lions.

The Detroit Lions look like the best team in the NFC to open the season, but they suffered a devastating injury last week when star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson went down with a season-ending broken leg. The Lions are taking on the undefeated Minnesota Vikings this week, and they’ve already suffered another key loss as running back David Montgomery is questionable to return with a knee injury.

Lions running back David Montgomery was helped off the field in the first quarter after suffering a leg injury in the first quarter. Montgomery was hurt on his second carry of the game. Two team trainers helped him get off the field after the injury.

Montgomery was questionable to return in this game. And now he’s back.

Here’s the original video of him being helped off the field.

Here’s the injury update from the team:

The Lions and Vikings are battling it out at the top of the NFC North this season. It’s been by far the best division in football so far, with the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers also looking strong to start the season.

The Lions will have to rely on running back Jahmyr Gibbs with Montgomery injured.

We’ll update this story as it develops.
