Derek Zoolander would not appreciate this.
The Philadelphia 76ers honored legend Allen Iverson on Friday with a statue worthy of Derek Zoolander’s confusion.

Dozens jockeyed for position to get a good photo of the new AI sculpture, which was required after it was apparent the bronze Iverson was roughly the size of a carnival teddy bear.
The tiny Iverson will adorn the outside of the Wells Fargo arena, and it’s nice to know it will literally last forever — because if weather gets bad enough they can easily throw a tarp over this one. Now, just in case you prescribe to the “quality over quantity” mantra, please know that TinyIverson only has a passing similarity to Allen Iverson.

You know a piece of art is great when people stare at it in disbelief, some of them laughing about how surreal it is that they’re staring at a TinyIverson. Here’s how I imagine the conversation went down during its construction.
Sixers: How’s the statue coming?
Artist: Good! But I can’t do cornrows, just FYI
Sixers: It’s fine, just make it look like he’s wearing a knit cap
Every cloud has a silver lining, though. At least Tyronn Lue can now step over Iverson the next time he’s in Philly — and it would be an easy step to take as well.
